A Treatment for Asthma in Children Has a Lot to Consider
In developing the right strategy to address the condition, the doctor may use some or all of these common diagnostic approaches to develop a plan to treat the breathing ailment.
Pulmonary Function Testing is the primary diagnostic tools used to determine the appropriate treatment for asthma in a specific child for the specific situation.
The PFT tests for the following: How much air is moved into and out of the lungs and how fast it moves. Tests to various gases, tightness of the chest wall, etc. are all considered.
A physical and medical history will be done to establish a baseline of health care factors that can be used to determine an accurate diagnosis. This may include: various blood tests, chest x rays, and EKG, etc. if only to eliminate potential illnesses and accurately determine the severity of the asthma or allergy condition.
A diagnosis will then be determined from the results of all the testing and a review of the symptoms. This will be used to determine the correct treatment for asthma in children as well as adults. On top of the complex diagnosis of an asthmatic condition, the severity can also be categorized. Four levels of asthma are based on symptomatic conditions and test results. These include:
Mild intermittent where symptoms may come and go erratically
Mild persistent or symptoms are evident about twice a week,
Moderate persistent asthma which is every day symptoms
Severe persistent being symptoms are evident during both day and night.
A treatment for childhood asthma plan is then developed using many of the common asthmatic drugs including bronshodialator and steroidial type medications. While doctors treat symptoms with the drugs, it's up to parents to take control of their kids personal health.
This would include identifying and changing environmental factors that impact the disease in your life. Many asthma sufferers have found that by removing asthmatic and allergy triggers around them, they're less likely to experience symptoms. These may include a plan to control humidity at home, dealing with very cold or inclement weather, pollen and even dust. Get a free report at the site below.
The asthma breathing ailment management is something that will continue to change due to the different factors that can affect the person living with the respiratory disease. Diagnosis and treatment therefore must always be considered dynamic and changing. To live successfully with asthma means always monitoring the disease.
